Brad Pitt's Jesse James Movie Extras
Brad Pitt's new Jesse James movie is partly being shot here in Edmonton as well as Calgary. They put in a call for "extras". Well...my kids wanted to try and be an extra. They got to the line up at 9:15am and didn't get out of the hotel until 10:45pm. There were sooooo many people...maybe 4000 to 5000?!? The people were lined up around the hotel where the front of the line and the back of the line were meeting.
Dawn and the kids got in on the last group allowed in. The rest had to fill out applications and attach a picture. The kids got measured, filled out the application, had their picture taken, etc. But even though they were there for over 13 hours, they were glad they waited to have a shot at being in the movie. They start shooting sometime near the end of August so hopefully they will be called and be in the movie. They get paid $9/hour for their time during shooting. The days could be long so this test of their stamina was good.
One funny thing happened...Dawn had told the kids that if they do get selected, they have to put $8 of the $9 in their education fund. Zayal, who is 8 years old, thinks for a minute and says, "Darn!! I'll have to work at least 25 hours!!". Apparently there is something she wants to buy that costs around $25 and she figured out that she will have to work a long time doing this acting gig to get what she wants. I hope she gets to buy what she wants.
