Employee Pricing Rocks!!

Even after my little rant about Employee Pricing...in the end it is still cheaper than normal. What the big print giveth, the small print addeth. So...we may have bought a car tonight if the financing goes through and it doesn't look like we should have a problem. The car is a Dodge 2.0 SX with 5-speed, air, and power locks. I wasn't going to buy one with any bells and whistles but he offered it to us for the same price as the "zipper" (no options)and the sale is over at the end of the month and he said it would take longer to sell after that.

The reason for buying? Well...with the new improved gas prices I will be paying about $400/month on gas for the truck alone. The payment plus the savings on gas will be pretty close to that but taking into account that Dawn probably spends around $250 to $300/month on gas, she will use it for running into town and we will save that gas expense too. That is the theory and were sticking with it!! It is rated to get 48 mpg on the highway and since we do most of our driving on one we hope it will get around 44 mpg average. Now take the truck that gets 22 mpg on a good tank and the van that gets around 26 mpg this will hopefully save us some money down the road. My gas in the car will be less than $200/month if all goes well. Again, that is the theory.

Hope it goes through and congrats on the purchase! I assume there'll have to be some other rationalisation in the whole Sirdar transport fleet later... You should save on gas, but insurance on three vehicles and other running costs might make it prohibitive in the longer term... Have fun in the sporty new machine!

Well...as the other two fleet vehicles are not exactly young...1997/1998 we took off the collision on them and had the full meal deal on the new car. The difference? $38/month. As the car will get more than double the mileage than what the truck does and a fair amount better than the van, it should balance out to our favour...we hope. Now we will park the truck and get the van in shape for when it needs to be in service. We will consider selling one of the vehicles should we find things not working out.

I am sure you will love your new vehicle every time you fill up on gas. We sure love ours.
