NHL Lockout...and the Spare Time You Now Have
The National Hockey League (NHL) is still in a lockout and the season is probably gone. But I have this feeling it had to happen sooner or later. Salaries are pretty much outrageous. Teams are saying they are loosing a lot of money. The small market teams are in jeapardy of folding or moving to another city. As much as I have missed hockey, I can't say that it has affected me as much as I thought it would. Reading in the Edmonton Journal today, there is an article about what hockey fans are doing without NHL hockey. One thing most of the people interviewed said is that they seem to have more money to spend and more time to do other things. They found out they are doing more with their families. Some are attending more Road Runner games or going to junior hockey games. There is more quality time with the kids and wife/husband as they have replaced hockey with family activities. Some have found they can go out more and do different things that they never even thought of before. Some have found hobbies. They are not sitting in front of the TV on Saturday nights watching Hockey Night In Canada or watching the other games that are on TV during the week.
So, a couple of questions:
1) Are you missing hockey as much as you thought you would?
2) What are you doing with the spare time you have now?
2 comments:
1) Hockey?
2) Playing on the computer, of course! ;)
1) Playing on the computer
2) Watching more junior hockey. They have a lot more effort than the NHL players.
